Day 25 - Why Performing in Ashdown was insane!!

Met really amazing characters in Ashdown, Was invited to a Hip Hop session that took place at Scotts lounge today and had the pleasure of meeting some crazy characters... Hip Hop is alive and well here in PMB....Insane!!!!!!
Meeting Vocat Njabulo, Headship Nqobo, Skeleton and Jee da Mc were highlights of the day for me.

The day was banging!!
That was the first session I went to in a long while coz study got so hectic but I enjoyed myself there.
All the people I met there were strangers but they knew who Nuhtkayz was ... I was shocked!! Small Effing world this is...The whole of our local Hip Hop community is even smaller and we'r all connected to one another in a huge way.

(Wishing I took more pictures of what it was like inside the session and and those performances but I was having too much of a good time to be taking pictures... these ones were at the beginning before the session begun)

Popped up there didn't know a single person in the room...  the minute I was introduced to new people they'd be cool with me until Headship said "so yeah this is Nuhtkayz".... people would change up and get all excited as though in their minds this Nuhtkayz character is somebody they know, it was magical.. How did we know each other like that? I geuss word goes around and swings hectic.. the responses were epic, I kept getting  "ow word!! This is you ma wow, I finally get to meet you.".. That's how connected we all really are?!?!

The cyphaz were crayzi!! Kats were freestyling from the top of their heads some really hectic stuff, I couldn't believe how powerful the scene is here in the grits of PMB a township in Ashdown. I was scheduled to perform a poem there but when my time came I was having such a blast there that I went up on stage and dropped my craziest bars and flipped the script.

I loved how the audience reacted, People went so wild I couldn't even hear the rest of my performance, .. the crowd was roaring at the end of my 5 min on stage!!
I was glad they were feeling my flow concoctions, people were flocking a Nuhtkayz after that.
They had all these features they wanted me to jump on and all these things to say... it was a crayzi space that I loved being in.

A space where the craft is celebrated and loved.
I really needed that energy to start my week up, hoping more sessions will come together it was such a full house.. Infact we were planning to crash even more sessions In Durban before the end of this year.

The appreciation ... yoh!! There are no words to describe!
I want to continue telling stories of South African Hip Hop through code NAR...
I'll be regularly attending Ashdown cyphers and Hip Hop sessions, rocking up there with a camera taking videos of the warm up cyphaz.
Today was just too crazy cool and real for me to worry about work...
The love that I got, the embrace and the appreciation for what I was doing was insane.
The wildest n coolest frikking crowd I've ever had to perform for.. It didn't even feel like a performance, the energy there was so amazing I just took off when I took the stage....

Next thing on the agenda... I'm telling the story of South African Hip Hop through code n.a.r,
A youTube channel is starting up and I'll be taping all the cyphaz and speaking to local emcees this stuff is just too exciting.

Bg ups to T Fluwid for organising this rockaz shinding....
