Boity's nude was very classy and wasn't as degrading as I expected it to be when I heard about it. So the boundaries were not crossed, so we'd seldom think anything about objectification when the persons integrity and self image was held in place and respected, sometimes I don't even know where the boundaries are... it get's confusing when you have to spread yourself thin across the intellectual minority and the latter majority as a communicater.. it's so important to know how to articulate and get your messages across and still be understood, so I try and be on level with both yet it proves to be a challenge!
I wrote to Jhene Aiko's "strange" yesterday and really loved the final piece, will probably post the music link up on saturday if I manage to get it recorded by that time. Building up my own stuff and taking up my own path and my own direction.. balancing so many things this year it's just crazy to keep up that same level of focus all the time but I need to keep trying till I get it right. Know your stuff else some phoney quip can pop out of nowhere and sway you from your foundation kill your entire life's worth of work.... The strength of knowing how to value your own self so that nothing outside of yourself can value you for much less then you are actually worth. It's dangerous out here and u can't trust nobody!!... careful of the things people put into your head.
If you don't know who you are when the big stuff hits, then you crumble once the pressure starts setting in, that's the one thing I've taken from Dave Chapelles interview with Oprah. It is very important to know how to stand in the centre of yourself and hold on to your integrity and your self image. Refuse to be moulded by external factors or dictated by what everybody else thinks about you other then what you think of yourself (holding your own power in your palm) ... and I guess that is what staying true to yourself is all about. You fall and you get up but you never give up you just keep going no matter how many times you fall, just get where you are going!
I've learnt a lot in the past week and there been plenty ups and downs and confusions while trying to get my life together with this complicated schooling situation, can't survive in this jungle without proper education.. real beasts are out there and you need to be prepared for war coz they out to take what you got!! believe in what you've got to offer, give your best and progress and live your life.... doesn't get any better then that.
