Continuing the record of thoughts and events from the day to day......
Registration was an adventure! Just shifting my focus on the things that I pay attention to made me feel like I was in a different environment all together although nothing has really changed other then my perception and attitude. I understand what Greg Bradon meant when he said "if you can change the field that the atom is in, then you change the atom" todays experience was exactly that!!
I met the craziest people on campus today, why I had not noticed such kind in earlier years here.... might have probably been because I was interacting with my space and my environment negatively. Today it was like everybody I met was energised, excited and psyched about starting off the new semester. It's been a long time since gelling with academic enthusiasts. The world had become such a negative black hole of misery for me in the fall of 2013. I'm glad I made it over that hurdle still in one peace.
Back at registration earlier, I met this Indian first year student who was looking for directions to the computer labs. I was on my way there so we walked off to the labs. What was more surprising then the fact that he preferred to talk in Zulu with me, was that he kept making these swift gestures suggesting the opposite of what he was saying with his mouth hehe. It was an entertaining walk across the main campus for me. Supposing that I was Zulu was normal, but his confidence astonished me.
10 minutes after leaving the labs I met Breeh. There wasn't much time to tell her about the sweaty women who threw her watery fingers into my palms at the labs. That occurrence alone instantly made me dread the sociology halls and future lecture there, forget signing up for the entire module this year. It might not turn out to be what I imagined to it to be. All the friends I've made and the best people I've met since being in PMB are all people I met in the centre for visual arts. 2 of my closest friends this side (Siya and Sne) are both fine arts majors... clearly there is something about it that is calling out to me. what else could that connection be? Thanks to 2 years of Digital arts I can finally make that life-changing switch!!
The day turned out awesome!! We went off to lunch at Sne's place and ended up packing a picnic basket of snacks to camp out at Siya's place tonight, watch movies, make pop corn and spend hours and hours beat boxing like we did yesterday.. This experience wouldn't be the same for me without these people.
great day had!!!
